RSCCE install keeps failing due to Asset Configuration Service

In the install log I found this:

HP Asset Configuration Service found in registry base.
Detected 'HP Asset Configuration Service' installed, removing, prior upgrade ...
remove HP Asset Configuration Service...
Removal failed (1605).
...Failed to remove 'HP Asset Configuration Service'(1).
Failed to prepare 'RSCCE' installation; skipping RSCCE update.
### end paste ###

I tried uninstalling HP Asset Configuration Service but I get denied because other apps depend on it. Doesn't say what apps.

Any idea how to get RSCCE install beyond this?

Meant to include that I've already tried the process described in the following thread (several times) to no avail.
