Remote Support Configuration and Services - cookie problem

HP SIM 5.3 SP1 on Windows 2008 x64 Server.

When going into HPSIM and selecting 'options' and then Remote support configuration and services I receive a popup which I cannot get rid off.

All cookies are accepted in IE8 so I don't see why this popup appears... and the problem is that I can't get to the Remote SUpport Configuration Services..

Re: Remote Support Configuration and Services - cookie problem

The main problem in my opinion is the message we receive when we try to open the Remote support configuration and services which is the following:

"content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate"

I have the same problem.
Is there any way to get rid of this annoying message and action to always allow direct access ?

Re: Remote Support Configuration and Services - cookie problem

Ivan,

I noticed you are using IE8. Not sure this is the cause of your issue, but according to the documentation for HP SIM and Insight RSA A.05.40 the only supported browsers are:

Browser software:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 2

Take care,

Re: Remote Support Configuration and Services - cookie problem

Hey Frank,

Somehowe the issue seems only to be when accessing RSCS from the local system.

When I access HPSIM from another system... http://ipadres/50000 the RSCS works fine.
And this is also an IE8.0

So, small problem but very annoying

Also..

HPSIM 5.3SP1 works on W2008 version with IE8.
Apparently it's only RSCS which is not tested with IE8.

Re: Remote Support Configuration and Services - cookie problem

Strange my copy of the April 2009 'HP Systems Insight Manager 5.3 with SP1
Installation and Configuration Guide for Microsoft Windows' agrees that HP SIM is supported on Microsoft Windows Server 2008, however it still says only these browsers are supported:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 2
- Firefox 2.0.0.20
- Firefox 3.0.4
Further, checking some known issues with HP SIM/RSCS I found a solution, to circumvent the cookie problem, which is exactly the same as yours - that is browse to HP SIM from a server other than the CMS.

All the above leads me to suspect the browser. Can you conveniently downgrade to IE 7 on the CMS to see if it cures the problem?

Re: Remote Support Configuration and Services - cookie problem

My server is 2008x64 SP1
The IE is the 7.0.6001.18000.
So that should be a supported version and the error is there.

Re: Remote Support Configuration and Services - cookie problem

Frank,

Have a look at the Worldwide Quickspecs for HP SIM

CMS Browser software:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0
Mozilla Firefox 3.0.10
Mozilla Firefox 3.1
Mozilla Firefox 3.5

And later on in the quickspecs they mention this:

Supported Managed Systems Web Browsers
Windows Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or later
Mozilla Firefox 3.0.10 or later
NOTE: For optimum performance, the minimum resolution for the browser must be 1024 x 768.

So, it's quite confusing.

Re: Remote Support Configuration and Services - cookie problem

Ivan,

The world wide quick specs that I just checked were for the NEW HP SIM 6.0. It looks like SIM 6.0 now supports IE 7 or later on the CMS and managed windows endpoints.
