Re: SPOP installation problem
By the way - i wonder why you do the installation by yourself - usually someone from HP does that for you.

Re: SPOP installation problem
Yes i am able to send and receive mail
so i think this means my SMTP server
is working!!!
But when i try to install SPOP and when i come to SMTP informtion screen
i face an errors like;
Not all of data was valid. Please check yours
answers and try again. An attemp to send a test e-mail (my SMTP address) on port 25
has failed.SMTP server , port, and/or Credentials are invalid
But i was able to send/recieve from command
prompt as your described steps from this SPOP
server!!!!!!
it is very strange!!!!!!
To Frauke;
Is the server you entered in the SMTP-Server field the same you use for your "normal" emailing???? If so the question is probably which firewall blocks the traffic. The SPOP itself has no SMTP server running.
-No.i mean we here in Ankara use Domino srv
and We are in Domain from Munchen and SMTP
srv in Munchen so We have surely firewall
We use Lotus notes both for local office and -e mailing intranet&extranet purposes
i have also tried to set my domino server-ip
address but nothing changed!!!
By the way - i wonder why you do the installation by yourself - usually someone from HP does that for you.
-Do you think is it important now?
i have guide doc from HP Turkey about this
SPOP inst so He or me does not change
:-)
He was here last week,We could not able to
solve this problem together and Now
We are the last customer and still can not able to finish SPOP inst.

SolutionIt works if you talk SMTP directly...
Here is another clue: During SPOP Init, the test email is sent as:
From : isee@hp.com
To: Contact_Email@your_domain.com
Some Mail Servers will NOT allow this kind of email to pass through, they call it "spamming" because the From address = isee@hp.com (which is not the same as your domain name).
You can look at your SMTP Server log, look for isee@hp.com, the mail might be rejected or trashed. You mail server may not "relay" the mail due to some restricted setup. Check the log!
The way to work around is to make the SPOP to be SMTP Server itself. I've included the instructions above, after you set it up, enter the SPOP hostname as SMTP Server during Initialization.
Hope this helps,

Re: SPOP installation problem
1. Start -> Settings -> Control Panel
2. Double click Add/Remove Programs
3. Select Add Windows Components
4. Click Internet Information Services (IIS) and click details
5. Check the box for the SMTP Service
6. Click OK, click Next
7. Leave the default of Application server mode selected, click next
8. When prompted for the SP3 CD, select Browse, and go to C:\WINNT\ServicePackFiles\i386
9. Click finish
10. Delete the logs from
C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\ISEE\SPOP\IseeCore\log
as there is an outstanding issue about the passwords being logged.
Start SPOP Initialization again, this time, enter the SPOP name as SMTP Server
i have tried...but nothing changed!!!!
i think i have to discuss this situation
from M├Г┬╝nchen firewall team-lan-network team
and We may need to monitor when my SPOP
server tries to send test mail and what are
the records which belong to my SPOP in M├Г┬╝nchen...
Thank's Liem
