Re: Support for ISEE to End.

Hi,

see

http://h20219.www2.hp.com/services/cache/600312-0-0-225-121.html

"...PLEASE NOTE: All versions of HP Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE) will be retired on June 1, 2009. Support events will no longer be processed by ISEE after this date.
..."

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Support for ISEE to End.

Thanks Torsten, Why I asked was, yesterday a couple of my friends/ex-collegues from another company were told by HP that the date has been pushed to Oct 30th 2009. I just wanted to know if anybody else has been told the same. -Kennedy

Re: Support for ISEE to End.

The end is the date listed above, see also the web page. Maybe you should discuss this with HP directly.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Support for ISEE to End.

From first hand experience with the replacement product for ISEE, which is HP SIM, has major hurdles installing on the HP-UX (my version is 11.11, your mileage may vary), hence it is at least expected from HP to push out the date. Also, if you have looked at the required ports to open on any firewall that SIM traffic needs to pass thru, it is another nightmare in an enterprise security environment. I think HP did not think this transition out real well before mandating the move from ISEE to SIM.

We'll wait and see I suppose. Good luk to everyone.

Re: Support for ISEE to End.

I hope they do push it further in time as I expect many last-minute users to be, er, surprised, to the least, by the complexity of the software stack that replaces this. Especially on HP-UX since we have to 1) introduce a Windows CMS in the environment and 2) migrate away from EMS.

Good luck to you.

Re: Support for ISEE to End.

Hello All,

I believe customers have two choices when migrating from ISEE.
a) Remote Support Advanced (RSA) using HP SIM
b) Remote Support Standard (RSS)

RSS was originally positioned as an easier to install alternative to HP SIM for ISEE self-migrators. However, it is also targeted mostly for customers with 50 or fewer servers.

For more information on RSS, please see

Re: Support for ISEE to End.

Hello HP-UX Admins:

I was officially notified by the HP Reps for our account, that the date has been extended until Oct 31st 2009. This gives me a little more time and this is quiet a time consuming effort. After installing a stack of pre-requisites, it is quiet a task to have things working the way it is supposed to. Thanks for all those who took time to write back to me.
