A6869B VGA Card with RX7640 causes windows stop error on boot

We attempted to install a A6869B PCI VGA card into our RX7640 which is configured as a single cell / partition. On restarting the server we were able to observe the boot sequence on the KVM sw, but as the OS proceeded to boot we had a Windows Stop error. We had to remove the card promptly to get production back on line.

Bad,

pls add the /NOVESA switch to your Windows bootoptions to fix this.

The Windows bootoptions can be edited from the EFI menu.
The entry should look something like this:


Boot entry ID: 1
OS Friendly Name: w2k3 Enterprise Edition
OsLoadOptions: /redirect /novesa /NoExecute=OptOut
BootFilePath: \Device\HarddiskVolume1\EFI\Microsoft\WINNT50\ia64ldr.efi
OsFilePath: \Device\HarddiskVolume4\WINDOWS
