Re: A9837A

A9837A-----> HP Superdome sx2000 Cell Board

AB367A -----> HP Processor Assembly PA-8900 2 CPU

You cannot mix different types of processors in a SuperDome cabinet, because processor frequencies must be the same within a
cabinet.Forexample,processors must all be PA-RISC8600 or IA,not a mixture
of PA-RISC8600 and PA-RISC8700.And definately not a mix of PA and IA.

Re: A9837A

"You cannot mix different types of processors in a SuperDome cabinet"

"definately not a mix of PA and IA"

This is not true.

You can mix different CPUs and even PA and IA CPUs.

But not within a single nPar.

Each npar *must* have the same CPUs, but you can have a PA-RISC and a IA64 nPar (or more, of course) in a superdome cabinet.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: A9837A

Jon,

Torsten is correct.

In SX1000 and SX2000 cabinets, you can have both IA and PA CPU's, but as mentioned they MUST all be of the same type in an nPAR.

Note that you may have to check firmware revisions for newer IA CPU support in your complex.
