Hi,
I have a new C7000 with 4 BL860c i2. I want to set up local RAID drives.
I have set up access to the shell, and peforming a reconnect -r shows the P410i and the "Presss F1 to continue"
But what do I press to get into the on-board raid controller??
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Access ORCA on P410i?
It works different on this platform.
Currently the controller is in "HBA mode", but you want to have "RAID mode".
Download the firmware update bundle for this controller to get the "saupdate" utility.
Using this utility you can toggle the mode. A readme is included.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Access ORCA on P410i?
Thanks - it had been suggested to me to run SAUPDATE, but I get the error
'saupdate' is not recognized as an internal or external command"
I believe I am running the very latest firmware - these are brand new systems...
Ilo - 1.40.42
system - 1.72
P410i - 3.66
The latest versions on the webpage are at or below these levels.
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Access ORCA on P410i?
Again, this utility is part of the firmware bundle!
Download the firmware bundle and extract it!
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Access ORCA on P410i?
Again - I tried to install the bundle but it says I am up to date and there is nothing to install.....
I am sorry if I don't understand something, that is why I am here... I downloaded the 26.05 bundle and used SUM for Windows... I used the IP address of the MP on the blade and the OA. It reported that the firmware is up to date.

Re: Access ORCA on P410i?
Our P410i are reporting that they are at version 3.66.. This firmware that you are pointing me to is 3.52...
Searching for devices.
HP Smart Array P410i Controller (version 3.66)
Currently the controller is in HBA mode
So this appears to be a downgrade...
Also, we are a VMS shop making .tar files hard to deal with...
Thanks,
Jeff

SolutionDon't downgrade!
Just use the tool "saupdate" to toggle the mode into RAID mode!
Syntax:
- saupdate set_mode <controller> <hba | raid> [-f]
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Access ORCA on P410i?
Yea! Thanks for your help. I have them in RAID mode..
For people that find this later.. After the controller is in RAID mode, then you need to use "drvcfg -s ...." to invoke the RAID software and create the raids..
Also, depending on your interface, "F8" is not the correct key for some terminal emulators. You need to use esc-8
to accept the RAID configuration changes.
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Access ORCA on P410i?
The P410i at least responds to F8 / ESC 8 occasionally -- the P420i found in Gen 8 systems responds to neither, and HP support is giving the usual offshore runaround.
