After internal disk replaced the server(rx6600) went to hung state. Peformed reset from MP to start

After failed primary disk removed and inserted the new disk the server stop responding and went into Hung state.
Then did a reset (rs) from MP to start the server.

Any idea why the server went into hung state after the disk replaced ??

Since you left out configuration specifics and log files, it could be many reasons. Controller firmware, drive firmware or software drivers out of date, etc...

However, you replaced a disk with another type and best practices should always replace mirror drives with same part/model number disks (geometry) and firmware to avoid unforseen issues.

Obviously a server hang should not occur b/c the disk rebuild should just perform in the background without any downtime.
You did not specified the OS, any usefull log entries at the OS level ??

The raid config seems to be normal, since the first disk has been replaced the original second disk has now become the primary (source) for the mirror.

The replacement disk seems to have the same spec's so that should be OK.

Not much more to comment here with the details provided.

As I previously stated ANYTHING could cause this to happen.

Best Practices:

Update Firmware and Drivers regularly to avoid issues.

Use like devices in mirror sets. (I've seen systems lockup when changing/replacing a mirror partner with dissimilar drive part numbers. Even though the drive had the same capicity). It can and does happen all the time.

Your drives weren't not at the latest firmware versions and they happen to be suspect with the firmware versions you are running.

Random lockups are noted in this HP Advisory:
