I'm new to the nPars. I tried to do nPar on the rx7620 which has 2 cell Boards. I have followed the HP nPartition Administrator's Guide. Points guarenteed for valuable suggestions
I did the following later the machine doesnt boot.
Step 1 :
MP:CM> cc
This command allows you to change the complex profile.
WARNING: You must either shut down the OSs for reconfiguration or
execute the RR (reset for reconfiguration) command for all
partitions before executing this command.
G - Build Genesis complex profile
L - Restore Last complex profile
Select profile to build or restore: G
The genesis complex profile creates one single cell partition.
WARNING: The genesis complex profile automatically ENABLES partition
reconfiguration. This allows partitions to issue platform
reconfiguration commands that could affect other partitions.
Use the PARPERM command to disable partition reconfiguration.
Choose the cell to use.
Enter cell number: 0
Do you want to modify the complex profile? (Y/[N]) y
-> The complex profile will be modified.
Step 2 : -
MP:CM> bo
This command boots the selected partition.
Part# Name
----- ----
0) Partition 0
Select a partition number: 0
Do you want to boot partition number 0? (Y/[N]) y
-> The selected partition will be booted.
Later i tried to change the Complex by giving 1.
Tired resetting the partitions by giving RR & RS...Nothing helped...Now my machine either boots & allows to installs the OE from DVD.
The Output of CP command from MP :-
MP:CM> cp

Re: After trying nPar on rx7620 machine stopped booting
Cell 0 is inactive (just like you configured that).
If you want to join cell 1 to the existing nPar, you need to use parmgr to add the cell to the current npar config.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: After trying nPar on rx7620 machine stopped booting
By creating a genesis partition you "deleted" the second cell from the npar.
You took away cell 0 from the nPar and all the CPU, memory and I/O (!) connected to that cell. You probably need to adjust your current npar related OS settings (pathes to disks etc.). Do you still need your vPars running? If, adjust everything first.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
