Are RXnnnn parts interchangeable between models?

Hey Gurus,

Is there a white paper which could tell me if I can interchageably use parts from different RXnnnn models?

Or is this even possible?

I'm creating an inventory, and I was thinking if I could just build a certain RXnnnn server and get the parts from another unused RXnnnn model.

TIA!

Re: Are RXnnnn parts interchangeable between models?

Not possible in general, because there are too many different systems, starting from rx1620 over rx6600 up to rx8640, see

You can look up certain parts using
http://partsurfer.hp.com

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Are RXnnnn parts interchangeable between models?

There may be some interchangeability between sibling models, i.e. between rxNNAA and rxNNBB.

Memory DIMMs might be more widely interchangeable, as the new servers apparently are designed to use PC-compatible memory whenever practical.

Disks might also be interchangeable, as long as the form factor and interface type are correct.

Best way to make sure is to check the part number with PartSurfer, as Torsten said.
