Re: Boot sequence of Itanium server and integrity server
There shouldn't be a difference. "Itanium" and "Integrity" are different terms for the same type of server.
"Itanium" refers to the processor or architecture of the server. You may have seen "IA" which means Itanium Architecture.
"Integrity" refers to the specific models of server HP sells that use the "Itanium" CPUs.

Re: Boot sequence of Itanium server and integrity server
As explained by Patrick, Integrity series uses Itanium processors. So both terms are same.
The below thread discuss the same
http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1288628570168+28353475&threadId=1087794
==>Also explain MP and GSP mode.procedure to get to the MP or GSP from HPUX booted in multiuser mode.
MP will have an IP adress and you can do a telnet/ssh(if availabale). It doesnt matter how you booted your OS.
If you want to go to console, you need to connect to MP, from MP prompt do
MP>co
This will show you the console of the syste. If the os is booted you can see the OS. Else you can the see the system booting till EFI shell if everything goes perfect.

Re: Boot sequence of Itanium server and integrity server
You will find that there are many more "features" on the Integrity side, with the Integrity side making a stop-over through uEFI.
To get to the MP or GSP from HP-UX would be like getting to it from any other system - you would telnet/ssh to the MP/GSP (assuming the systems were all new enough to have a lan connected MP/GSP. It was an available option on the first Integrity systems, standard (with iLO) on the current Integrity systems.

Re: Boot sequence of Itanium server and integrity server
Difference between PA-RISC and Integrity boot
PDC/IODC is replaced by PAL/SAL on Integrity servers which is responsible for initial hardware tests . The BCH on PARISC servers is replaced by the EFI boot manager for the default boot path which is consulted from NVRAM also called as stable storage on Integrity servers. In integrity servers the boot loader is hpux.efi. These are some significant differences. However scripts like /sbin/ioinit, /sbin/bcheckrc, /sbin/init.d/ remain the same. As of my knowledge GSP is the analogous term for MP console on legacy systems (older servers).

Re: Boot sequence of Itanium server and integrity server
Hi Patrick,
I am new to HP-UX and the link shared below seems to be broken. Can you please share the working link to access the below doc.

This thread is 7 years old.
Would you please open your own new thread and ask your question?
Hope this helps!
