Cannot see efi shell RX4640
First time user of this forum and integrity servers as well. Recently got my hands on a rx4640 box and want to install win 2003 server in it. I know that there is a smart disk that I have to download etc but my problem start from very beginning as the DVD room is not working (no led, no eject, nothing). I tried about 4 different DVD drives with same part number but same result. Then I read that I most reconnect the DVD drive from EFI shell. My problem is that I cannot access this shell. I have access to MP through serial and telnet (I was able to see the IP from MP-CM-LS). When I get to the console I see only one cursor blinking and no command can be executed. If anyone can help me access this shell it would be very helpful as at this point I don’t know how to proceed any further.
If it is helpful I’m posting the output of sysrev and the screen that I get when console.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Cannot see efi shell RX4640
Hi Gjeko,
You can perform the Power recycle activity to see what is the last boot message after the power recyle.
Before power recycle , Make sure the system in console mode.(MP>CO).
Please paste the boot message, as i understand the console output configured to VGA that is the reson you cant see the EFI shell.
So power recycle the system and see the boot messages and see where is the console output configured.
If it is configured in VGA , it has to be changed to serial and perform the installation activity.
HTH,
Surendar

Re: Cannot see efi shell RX4640
Hi Surendar,
First I want to thank you for your reply.
I power cycled the machine many times and there were no messages shown regarding previous boot. Also connected monitor with keyboard and mouse but there was no signal on VGA. One thing I noticed was that the machine restarted 3 times every time I power cycled. I checked the system logs from web and there was a repeated message that the CPU was not able to boot. I checked the CPU physically and it looked OK. Only after a reset of MP with the button located in the back I was able to get a CPU boot and the boot manager finally showed up and the DVD is accessible. Downloading the HP smart setup right now so I guess now is OK,
Thanks again for you help,
Gjeko.

Hi Gjeko,
It is good to hear the system is working fine, after the MP reset.
Thank you very much for your update.
