Do you have a windows supported controller for the internal disks?

I would suggest to use the smartsetup CD (NOT smartstart!) to install this OS (make sure it is made for Integrites!).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Change of OS from HPUX to Windows 2k3 enterprise

Look at the matrix:

http://docs.hp.com/en/sas_sm/sas_support_matrix.htm

The HP 8 Internal Port SAS Host Bus Adapter does NOT work with windows - you need a smartarray P400, P600 or P800.

Hope this helps!

Re: Change of OS from HPUX to Windows 2k3 enterprise

Hi,

You can install windows without the VGA but it would be easy for the installation by getting the I/O board with VGA.

I'm assuming you going to install without the VGA, connect ur laptop to the server using serial with Reflection or watever, try to boot the smartsetup disc, follow those steps.(When you reach the section asking you to agree the terms, press [esc]+ 8 to accept, pressing only F8 wont get you any response). After the setup complete copying the files, the server will reboot and now you will only see text mode from your console like following :

Name: SAC
Description: Special Administration Console
Type: VT-UTF8
Channel GUID: b08c8640-78db-11d8-a864-806e6f6e6963
Application Type GUID: 63d02270-8aa4-11d5-bccf-806d6172696f
Press for next channel.
Press 0 to return to the SAC channel.
Use any other key to view this channel.

Please press 0 and it will prompt to ask you key in for the product key. After that the setup process will continue till complete. And you will see the window bootpath in the EFI. Wait the server to boot up and the SAC> will be available again. Now is the steps to setup the ip address for remote desktop since you dont have the VGA attached.

SAC> i
Net: 2, Ip=0.0.0.0 Subnet=0.0.0.0 Gateway=0.0.0.0
Net: 3, Ip=0.0.0.0 Subnet=0.0.0.0 Gateway=0.0.0.0
Type i to see the network card on the system.

SAC>i 2 16.158.33.xxx 255.255.254.0 16.158.32.1
Choose 2 to setup the ip for the network(plug the network cable as well)

Now waiting for the msg stated the cmd is available then type the cmd in SAC
SAC> cmd

Type the following command in the cmd prompt to enable the remote desktop connection(type in one line please)

reg add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server" /v fDenyTSConnections /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

After that, start the remote desktop service from your local machine to your rx6600, key in the ip details and enter the administrator & password. Once log into the rx6600, try to set the hostname, ip address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS again in rx6600. If you dont do that once the rx6600 reboot, you will lose the configuration you done in SAC> and have to redo again.

Hope it will help you much. Thanks
