Re: DVD drive interface type in Rx series servers

Look it up in ioscan or xstm. On my ZX6000
(similar to an RX2600) the DVD drive is an
IDE Teac DW-28e.

Re: DVD drive interface type in Rx series servers

It depends on the server model. In some models IDE drives are used, in others SCSI drives. (Some of them are a combination of an IDE drive with a SCSI converter).

Hope this helps!

Re: DVD drive interface type in Rx series servers

All,
Thank you for your responses.

I too checked one of the rx2600 and the drive is IDE.

My original query was related to a question asked to me during HP-CSA(I cleared it!!).

What is the compatible SCSI interface for a DVD-ROM attached to rx series system ... if i remember correct, the options where:
1.SE
2. LVD
3. HVD
4. HV Single ended

Looks like its time for HP modify this question.

Re: DVD drive interface type in Rx series servers

Hello,

The answer in that case should be LVD, I guess.

If you install HPUX 11.23 on your rx2600, from ioscan you should find that your drive has SCSI ID 2, so it is seen as a SCSI device from your machine. Whether it is a pure SCSI device or whether your drive is IDE with a SCSI convertor, the fact remains that your drive is seen by your machine as SCSI, and that's what counts at the end of the day.

My answer of LVD derives from the fact that nowadays, LVD is de-facto standard, the rest have been obsoleted long ago.

Re: DVD drive interface type in Rx series servers

Me too selected LVD for the question and looks like that was wrong.

Is there anyone who know the answer?

Anyone from HP education here?
