Re: DVD drive interface type in Rx series servers
Rx 2600
comes with
--------------------(A)--------------------
IDE controller Ultra ATA-100 capable controller
Supports one IDE optical drive (CD/DVD)
--------------------(B)-------------------
SCSI controller Two Ultra 320 SCSI channels
One external SCSI port (rear panel):
├в ┬в 68-pin standard, high density SCSI connector
├в ┬в Must use cables designated as U320-capable with U320 devices
├в ┬в 12 m maximum bus length
├в ┬в SCSI ID:
├в ┬вmay not use SCSI ID 2 when a drive is installed in internal bay 2
├в ┬вmay use SCSI ID 2 for the external port if there is no drive in bay 2
├в ┬в Termination:
├в ┬вmust be terminated if there are devices attached
├в ┬вmust not be terminated if no devices are attached (automatically
terminates if no devices are attached)
├в ┬в Device support:
├в ┬вLVD devices
├в ┬вLegacy SE devices
├в ┬вSE, narrow devices
---------------------------------------------
Hope this explains. It from HP documents so no doubt.

Re: DVD drive interface type in Rx series servers
The controller on the baseboard is located at U6501, and is a Silicon Image SiL649C.
The controller connects to the DVD I/O board on J9006. The DVD itself connects directly to the DVD I/O board.

Re: DVD drive interface type in Rx series servers
I am sure, in the exam question IDE was not an option to select. Now the question is, what answer HP expect other than IDE?

Re: DVD drive interface type in Rx series servers
Zygmunt answer puts some more light. Now there is a possibility, the answer to the actual question is SE.
I shall try to contact HP certification team.
