Re: Disk imaging Win2003 IA64

Thanks, I know how to install the OS. But I want to backup the C:\ to a disk image, like a ghost image. Any idea on how to do that?

Re: Disk imaging Win2003 IA64

I'm looking for the same info. My only difference is that I'm running Datacenter. Otherwise, I'd love to know if you find anything out.

My considered options were:

(1) Scripted (unattended) setup. I'm not sure how this works in 64-bit land, but I was going to give it a shot. Requires pre-boot drivers (for network location of UNATTEND.TXT, unless we burn a custom DVD or CD [possible]).

(2) ADS from Microsoft - but they don't yet support 64-bit.

(3) Take a mirrored drive and snap off a 3rd mirror copy, then rebuild on original. (For OS Drive).

(4) Some type of bare-metal restore add-in to any number of popular enterprise-class backup suites (Veritas, etc).

I'm just now researching, so I'd love to know (again) what you find out if anything.

Really looking for an answer to this. We need to be able to quickly restore an established image for iterative development testing. We're working on the rx4640 and rx7620. What options are available?

Re: Disk imaging Win2003 IA64

I have seen Veritas used successfully, but don't have any details. Veritas creates a bootable CD from your Windows 2003 64-bit media, much like WinPE.
