EFI: How to search for bootable disks?

Just received a "new" (to us) rx5670, that is supposed to have an OS installed.

Won't boot; get
Load olf HP-UX Primary Boot: 0/5/1/0.8.0.110.0.0.1 failed: Not Found

I have no idea if that's a good path or not, so i wanted to search for bootable devices. You used to say "search all" at boot prompt.

Found this document
http://docs.hp.com/en/rx5670_OpsMaint/ch04s01.html
that tells me the equivalent command in EFI is 'bcfg' but i cannot figure out what options to use to make bcfg simply search for bootable devices.

Am i barking up the wrong tree? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: EFI: How to search for bootable disks?

This path looks like an external disk (in SAN) to me.

Start and EFI shell and run "map -r".

Entries like

fs0 ...

are at least readable disks.

Look if there is the system loader "hpux"

fs0:\EFI\HPUX> hpux

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: EFI: How to search for bootable disks?

Yes, it's supposed to be a dedicated fibre san for this machine.

Maybe it's not really seeing it; cause when i run the "map -r" all i'm getting is

blk0 : Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(2|1)/Scsi(Pun3,Lun0)

Thanks, btw.

Re: EFI: How to search for bootable disks?

Your boot disk is on the SAN or do you expect an internal disk?

At the moment there is only one device visible, but without a valid filesystem.

Hope this helps!

SIGH. Sure it didn't see the external array. Some dummy named "ME" didn't have it powered on.
SIGH.

Re: EFI: How to search for bootable disks?

Sometimes the computer is not the problem - it is in front of the system ...

;-))

Hope this helps!
