EFI firmware update for A6795A. but no efi_mkdir??

Hi

I am trying to perform an EFI firmware update for a A6795A 2Gbps/1Gbps Fibre Channel 4X PCI HBA.

I am following the instructions at https://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayInstallInfo.do?productNumber=A6795AEFI

I download the the EFI update however following the instructions, I do not have efi_mkdir or efi_cp set of tools that are required.

Hi,

You could try to use usb devices to update the driver from EFI.

- Copy the file into usb drive and insert the usb drive into available usb port
- From EFI shell, map -r

Shell> map -r
blkE : Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(1|1)/Usb(1,0)/Usb(0, 0)

- blkE:
- find the file and run the update

"efi_mkdir" or "efi_cp" are some of the utilities provided in HPUX for doing operation on EFI filesystem. These utilities are in built in HPUX and should be available from HPUX OS environment and NOT from EFI shell.

Refer the man pages of these utilities.

What I trying to say, I don't have these tools on the system. I am running HPUX 11.11

Well, since you posted this query on this section, it is assumed that you are having Integrity server running HPUX 11.23

These utilities are the part of HPUX 11.23 which is for Integrity servers where EFI exist. You won't find them on 11.11

If you read the installation instructions given in the link you posted, there is mention of IPF which is nothing but Integrity.

So how do you update the firmware on the A6795A on a 11.11 box?

how to upgrade firmware is depend on your server type, for entry based server, you can use patches to upgrade firmwar

I assume your server is one of PA servers like RP4440. The EFI driver is for the integrity server. If you want to keep the IO controller firmware for A6795A up to date for PA servers, update the system firmware.
