Error: "FATDirSize: cluster chain"

Hi Folks,

It's an Integrity BL 60p; it had HP-UX 11iv3 installed sometime back - as a test server.

Now when I try to "dir" or "ls" from fs0 or fs1, I get the Error:
fs0:\> dir
FATDirSize: cluster chain corrupt
Directory of: fs0:\
File Not Found
Exit status code: Not Found

But EFI commands like cls works!

Also, I want to re-install the OS, but external USB DVD Drive is not being detected.

Any help is appreciated & rewarded!

Thx

Re: Error: "FATDirSize: cluster chain"

JK, there is no other disk from where the LIF areas can be copied...

I wanted to know what the root cause of the problem is...

Have assigned points!

Issue is still unresolved, though..
Ideas/Suggestions welcome...

Thx again

Re: Error: "FATDirSize: cluster chain"

Hi SNS

As you know, EFI partition is a FAT partition, and the error clearly tells there is a Corruption in your FAT partition, Re-initializing your partition will be the solution for your case.

Mirroring is a recommended solution to avoid Single point of failure related to OS disk, but being a test server you may not use it. If you don't need to recover OS/EFI (no chance), then you just need to re-install OS , You can go for remote installation from Ignite Server. Fresh installation will re-layout the disk, so EFI will be fixed.

>> your external DVD drive not functioning). You do not have an internal DVD drive?

So the best way is to configure an Ignite server and use remote installation procedure.
