Firmware upgrade from 3.17 to 4.28

This is on rx4640 running 11.23

I have the patch PHSS_37118.

The current firmware is:


MP FW : E.03.15
BMC FW : 03.49
EFI FW : 03.14
System FW : 03.17

I want to upgrade it to:

MP FW : E.03.30
BMC FW : 04.06
EFI FW : 05.48
System FW : 04.28



Does the firmware upgrade entail anything more than installing this patch?

There is a readme about this patch:

Note some of the critical points:
- clear the MP logs
- reset the MP

The patch will copy the utilities and the firmware to the EFI partition, reboot the system and start the update from EFI automagically.

Very often there are interim steps to do a major version firmware upgrade.

The notes posted should make clear if an interim update is required.

As far as I understand, I don't need to go through intermediate versions of firmware for this upgrade.

You can go to ITRCs patch database and search for this patch PHSS_37118.
You will find the text there.

I read the PHSS_37118.text file, it's totally incomprehensible and I still don't understand if this patch will actually upgrade firmware or not.
I was under the assumption that it will, but the .text file doesn't explicitly say so.

You are right, for every "if" is a "do" and "don't" ... this applies to almost every previous combination of firmware that you can have on this box.

But on your system I think it will do the job without problems ...
