Firmware upgrade on rx2600

Hi,

Yesterday I upgraded the System and BMC Firmware to 1.82 on a rx2600

Before the upgrade I had serial console (ttyS0) through the management lan and on the console port on the console/remote/ups port.

However, after the upgrade, that switched. Now I have ttyS0 through the Console/Serial A port, and ttyS3 on the managemant lan.

Was this change intentional? And what is the easiest way to change i back?

I didn't do any other changes.

I'm running Debian Woody on the box

Re: Firmware upgrade on rx2600

It looks like what's happening is the console output devices are getting changed. Before the firmware upgrade, You probably only had the MP serial port enabled. After the upgrade, it looks like the onboard serial port as well as the one on the MP is enabled.

To change it back, go into your Boot Option Maintenance Menu, choose Console Output Devices, and de-select the onboard serial port. It should look something like this:

Acpi(PNP0501,0)/Uart(9600 N81)/VenMsg(PcAnsi)
Acpi(PNP0501,0)/Uart(9600 N81)/VenMsg(Vt100)
Acpi(PNP0501,0)/Uart(9600 N81)/VenMsg(Vt100+)
Acpi(PNP0501,0)/Uart(9600 N81)/VenMsg(VtUtf8)
Acpi(HWP0002,700)/Pci(1|1)/Uart(9600 N81)/VenMsg(PcAnsi)
Acpi(HWP0002,700)/Pci(1|1)/Uart(9600 N81)/VenMsg(Vt100)
* Acpi(HWP0002,700)/Pci(1|1)/Uart(9600 N81)/VenMsg(Vt100+)
Acpi(HWP0002,700)/Pci(1|1)/Uart(9600 N81)/VenMsg(VtUtf8)
Acpi(HWP0002,700)/Pci(2|0)

The one w/ the "*" is the MP using vt100+ emulation, and the last entry is your pci video card (if you have one). You may want to select that as well.
