Hi,
I try to get a HP Integrity rx2620 running, but so far had no luck :(
I get no output from VGA (just a blinking cursor). If I use HTerm (Windows) I can see some garbage on the serial A output (9600 Baud 8N1) and if I use these settings in putty (with flow control XON/XOFF like the manual says) I get nothing. When I use a standard DB25 to DB9 serial adapter I also get nothing out of the serial of the MP (9600 8N1 no flow control) and I also can not connect to the MP over LAN.
What am I doing wrong?
Best regards,
Tobias

Re: HP Integrity rx2620 - no connection possible (RS232, LAN)
If there is a MP card installed you need the "M" or "W" cable and a null-modem cable for serial connection.
VGA should work during boot until the OS starts.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP Integrity rx2620 - no connection possible (RS232, LAN)
Hi,
I´ve got a null-modem cable, but what do you mean by "M" or "W" cable? I know that there is an adapter for the DB25 connector of the MP, but I read that one can also use a normal DB25 -> DB9 adapter, because this is enough for the console?!
I know that VGA shoudl work, but it doesn´t ;) After 10 minutes I thought there is not coming more. So I restarted and tried again.
Best regards,
Tobias

Re: HP Integrity rx2620 - no connection possible (RS232, LAN)
You could try to exclude the MP card. Open the chassis and disconnect the flat cable from the system board to the MP, then connect the serial cable to the serial port A.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP Integrity rx2620 - no connection possible (RS232, LAN)
Hi,
ok, I will try to disconnect the MP card. Is there a way to delete all settings like baudrate and so on? It´s possible that these settings got changed, but no one does remember if it is so :(
Best regards,
Tobias
Edit::
It should then be possible to connect to the serial A with putty and 9600 8N1 and XON/XOFF?

Re: HP Integrity rx2620 - no connection possible (RS232, LAN)
Yes, that's the default.
To reset the MP press the reset button (behind the chassis) for more than 10 seconds.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

And how can I reset the EFI settings? On PCs you´ve got either a jumper or you needed to take out the battery.
Best regards,
Tobias

SolutionLet's start over.
Pull the power cables and connect to the MP serial and also connect a VGA screen to the MP connections.
Press the MP reset button for more than 10 seconds.
Connect the power cables and power on.
You should see now the same output on serial (once you logged on and typed "CO") and VGA until the OS stats.
Any output so far?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP Integrity rx2620 - no connection possible (RS232, LAN)
No nothing, neither on serial nor on VGA :( I can´t logon because there is no output.
Will try out to disconnect the MP.
Best regards,
Christian
Edit::
Ok, on the second system I got to the MP console. Hope I get into EFI from there :)

Re: HP Integrity rx2620 - no connection possible (RS232, LAN)
I don´t know why it´s only working on one server, but one working is enough at the moment.
So thanks!
Best regards,
Tobias
