Solutionthe rx2620 CANNOT run 11.11 (aka 11i v1), only 11iv2 and 11iv3.
What console are you using?
VGA? Serial?
You should check the console configuration.

Where is the "*"?
Check also for input and error device settings.

You can use a notebook + putty + null modem cable.
