Hi,
One of our HP rx4640 server is not showing the complete model number:
bash-3.00# model
ia64 hp
Due to this I am unable to update the system firmware. The current system firmware version is 2.13.
SYSREV
Current firmware revisions
MP FW : E.02.29
BMC FW : 02.33
EFI FW : 02.10
System FW : 02.13
We are upgrading it to the latest system firmware version 4.21. We are using the HP Offline Firmware Manager method to update the system. We have downloaded the .iso (for model rx4640) and cut the CD.
But when booting from the CD we are getting the following error message:
"HP offline firmware manager does not support the current hp system"
The other HP rx4640 servers are showing the complete model numbers and we are also able to update the system firmware.
# model
ia64 hp server rx4640
We are clueless, Please suggest.

Solution
The model string is set wrong.
Should be
ia64 hp server rx4640
The solution is inside this document (but wrong):
http://docs.hp.com/en/rp4440-rx4640_upgrade/rp4440-rx4640_upgrade.pdf
page 34
Go to EFI shell and enter
sysmode service
sysset prodname "server rx4640"
If this does not help you, contact HP service.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP offline firmware manager does not support the current hp system
Hi Shekhar,
Why you r updating the firmware with officeline utility the online firmware is available in the form of patch, you can download from hp site and install with swinstall command it is very easy method.
Make sure before updating the firware you keep the revert back process and parts with u.
Thanks,
