HPUX snmp request for MSA 2000 virtual disk status
We currently install a new HPUX 11.31 on a rx3600.
We have a MSA2000 including 8 physical disks configured in 1 huge virtual disk in RAID10. The virtual disk is split in 3 volumes.
We would like to get the status of the virtual disk or even of each physical through SNMP request special when 1 disk is faulty and virtual disk still available but degraded.
Is it possible ?
Is there any other way through HPUX scripting to get this status ?
Any suggestion is welcome.
Bruno

The G1 does still not support hp-ux

Hope this helps!

Re: HPUX snmp request for MSA 2000 virtual disk status
This array has a SNMP event table inbuilt and supports events notification using SNMP traps method to a defined SNMP host besides email alert notification. You can find more details about this in the reference guide.
HP SIM 5.3 also includes the MIBs "msa2000traps.mib" for this array.

Re: HPUX snmp request for MSA 2000 virtual disk status
We had a look to the MSA 2000 Reference Guide, but we didn't any item in the MIB to get the SNMP status of :
- Status of the virtual disks
- Status of individual physical disks
We would like to implement an SNMP polling to retrieve these values but it seems it doesn't exist in the MIB.
Any other suggestion is welcome.

Re: HPUX snmp request for MSA 2000 virtual disk status
I'm trying to monitor a MSA20212fc by SNMP GETs, too. For the controller's status I modified the Nagios check check_msa_hardware.pl, but I don't have a solution for the arrays and disks yet. Did you solve this?

Re: HPUX snmp request for MSA 2000 virtual disk status
Yet, as described in HP StorageWorks 2000 Family Modular Smart Array CLI Reference Guide (doc ID c01505833) available on the HP website at:
http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01505833/c01505833.pdf
you can script the request using an 'expect' script.
It works fine

Re: HPUX snmp request for MSA 2000 virtual disk status
I think it's part of the Nagios plugins.
I put the scripts I'm using here:
