How can I enable LAN Card ?
Hi,
I have HP RX7620 Itanium based server which had only 1 network lan card, while i was connected to this server via remote dekstop , i disbaled the network card by mistake, now as expected i lost the connection to Remote desktop, now i cannot go inside, since the server is not on network..... how can i enable network card again ?? anything can be done via MP ( Management console ) ?? or may be at hardware level ( pluggin in / out network card ) ??
Waiting fro your replies.
Regards
NV

Re: How can I enable LAN Card ?
Thats a nasty one...
Certainly you can access the SAC via the MP card as described in this document:
http://www4.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000080076924
(KB Article KBQA00000497)
However, whether you can re-enable your LAN card from there depends on exact;y what you did... if you just removed the IP address by accident you should be OK.
However, if you actually disabled the LAN card (through device manager) - you could be in trouble - if you have devcon installated ( http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;311272 ) you will be able to re-enable the card - otherwise I'm really not sure how to proceed... maybe take a look at this:
http://www4.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000079989067
(KB Article 4000078660)
Which talks about how to *disable* a driver from the command line using the cmd line registry editing tools, so you could presuambly figure out how to re-enable this too.
Personally I always sell rx boxes that will run windows with a VGA/USB card (A6869A) and some sort of IP based KVM solution - mainly because the 'headless' support that M$ provide is so cr*p.

Re: How can I enable LAN Card ?
If you are running under linux you can always hook up a serial console. Or, you can hook up a standard KVM. Or, if so equipped, you can hook up to the iLO/MP via ethernet (if you've configured it) or the serial port.
