How to contact Ignite server with no OS on Itanium ?

Hi All,

Is there an option on IA64 HP machines' EFI menu, to do the equivalent of "boot lan.143.185.143.185 install" at the (PA-RISC) IPL prompt (see at bottom).

Namely, is there a way to contact an Ignite server while no OS is loaded on the Itanium machine ?

Thanks,
Ron.

Re: How to contact Ignite server with no OS on Itanium ?

"lanboot" from the EFI prompt will boot over the network. My system only has one network card, so this command is easiest. For multiple lan cards, the Ignite documentation does a good job of showing you how to create boot entries in the EFI menu using the lan card of your choice: http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90829/B2355-90829.html
Make sure you have the latest version of Ignite. Note that Ignite that runs on PA-RISC cannot yet Ignite an 11.23 IA64 system. You need the Ignite version you get with your IA64 system to do this.
