How to do a disk firmware update on Itanium?

I need to do a disk firmware update on two Itanium servers (rx2600 & rx5670). From the disk firmware update documentation, my options seem to be:

1) create a tape with the disk f/w & boot from that
2) use a BOOTP server for a n/w boot

I could not see how to get the rx5670 to boot from a tape drive. Then I saw note http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=246763 which makes me think that you can't boot an Itanium from tape.

So my only option seems to be BOOTP.

Or could I burn a CD with the disk f/w on, and boot from that? (For the tape boot, the block-size must be 2KB, and I don't know if it's possible to set the block size on a CD).

Thanks,
John
