How to find the Boot devices
How to find out the boot devices available in PA-RISC/ITANIUM systems w/o entering into OS.
Thanks in advance.

Re: How to find the Boot devices
On PARISC, boot devices can be searched for from the BCH prompt.... For that you need to get into MP console and interrupt the boot. On BCH, > sea ipl and then boot
On Itanium processor families, firmware is different and requires interaction with the EFI, in lehmann's terms sometimes called a blue screen, you can also find out boot devices from this interface... However, these paths are in the form of EFI hardware addresses as Integrity firmware at "boot time" fails to realise what HPUX hardware addresses are.... So to find out the media or source , you can look for some "keywords" on EFI which will tell you if it's Ignite S/R,Ignite Tape,DVD etc.... Hope this helps and don't forget to assign appropriate points.

Re: How to find the Boot devices
Please check this:
http://docstore.mik.ua/manuals/hp-ux/en/5991-1247B/ch05s20.html#aes-npar-233
Then I guess that you could load "setboot" command instead "ls".

Re: How to find the Boot devices
On Integrity run "map" from the EFI Shell and look for entries with a Par1, Par2, and Par3. This will indicate that the disk was at some point partitioned to be a boot disk. Also, try "bcfg boot dump" to display a list of configured boot options.
Nothing will report a confirmed working bootable disk, short of actually attempting to boot that disk.

Re: How to find the Boot devices
Without OS means from the boot menu only?
Could you tell some background for your question?
The answer could be a bit complicated, maybe a bit more complicated than you think ... (keyword: boot from SAN).
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
