SolutionAn all PCI-X backplane with 10PCI-X slots and a combo backplane with 2 PCI-X slots and 8 PCIe slots.
You have to check the server to see what kind of backplane you have before ordering and HBAs.
there is also varying OS support with each backplane so check the quickspecs for details

Re: In which slot we have to connect HBA card
You can connect in PCI-X or PCI-X2 slots or PCI-e slot depending upon the card support matrix. However PCI-X2 slots are faster having 266Mhz speed,
On rx-3600 slot 3 and 4 are PCI-X2 type, 266Mhz , should be connect high speed PCI-X2 card, such as clustering interconnects
or multi port storage adapters
Slot 5,6,7,8,9 & 10 , are Highspeed and General public pci slot. with slot5 & 6 are 133Mhz speed , 7 to 10 are 66Mhz speed slot.
Slot 3 & 4 are not Hot Swap/OLR capable slot. 7&8 are Highspeed PCI-X Public, and Hotswap/OLR capable.
So depending upon the configuration & number of HBA, you can choose which slot should have the HBAs.

Re: In which slot we have to connect HBA card
Please login to the MP and in CM (command menu) type the command df -all -nc. Check for the entry "Backplane" to determine what kind of backplane the system actually has.
Ofcourse PCI-E cards are better but you shaould have a PCI-E slot in the system.
