Install HPUX 11i v2 on RX2600 with internal RAID 5

I need to install HPUX 11i v2 on an RX2600 with an internal RAID 5 setup. The system will have 3 300gb internal drives. Do I install HPUX on one of the drives and then change the cabling to connect the drives to the 6402 controller? and then setup RAID 5. Or do I setup the cabling to connect the drives to the 6402 controller and then some how install HPUX with a RAID 5 setup?

I am not sure how I go about doing this.

You need to install the array controller including cables, setup the RAID, then install the OS.

The system cannot see individual disks, but logical drives only.

Use the ORCA to setup the RAID.

Can I definately access this ORCA utility on an RX2600?

You can access it the same way on each Integrity server. Just press ESC 8 when you see "press F8" while booting.

I used ORCA to set up a logical drive (RAID5) with three internal drives on my RX2600, however when I try to install HPUX 11i V2 FOE no drives are available to install from. The system screen shows zero drives. What could I be doing wrong? Orca shows one logical drive.

I even tried the following with no luck. It appears this procedure doesn't work with 11i v2.

After much research I believe the reason I can not install HPUX 11i v2 is because the system firmware is too old - MP FW E.02.10

I am trying to install the firmware upgrade 0226 first (I see the upgrade path requires this upgrade first) by FTP. I issued XD and checked that I can ping the FTP server and then reset the MP. Next I issued XU to upgrade. However how I try I get the same error everytime "could not find upgrade file set on source system"

The files have been extracted to the following directory D:\Shared\HP_Literature\firmware\RX2600 and RX2600 is the home directory for my FTP login. What is the correct file path I should be using. This is on a windows XP machine and my FTP server is Filezilla.

The files extracted are
E0226.bin
gsp_upia
mp_upg
Resources.out
version.dat

The MP firmware should not be related, however try to access the FTP directory directly from your PC first. Does this work?

This were my settings during the last upgrade:

New Firmware Upgrade Parameters:
* I - Source IP : 1.3.5.10
* P - File Path : /ia64/e.02.29
* L - Login : anonymous
* W - Password : anonymous


Make sure you have no local firewall blocking this connection!

I turned off the firewall. What was the name of your file? e.02.29? E0229.bin? e.02.29.bin? maybe I am using the wrong naming convention.

Don'r specify the file, but the directory only.
