Integrity rx7640 Hardware path details

Hi everybody
I have an Integrity rx7640 running vPars, and they have 3 HP AB465-60001 PCI/PCI-X 1000Base-T 2-port 2Gb FC/2-port 1000B-T Combo Adapter and 2
HP AB290-60001 PCI/PCI-X 1000Base-T 2-port U320 SCSI/2-port 1000B-T Combo Adapter.
I have 2 NICs connected with their IPs working fine, but I need to connect 2 more cables. I'm not on the server's site, so I have to tell the site's guy where the cables should be connected. I have adapters hardware paths but I cannot figure where he has to connect the cables.
Anybody have a diagram of the rear view of that server? I can't find in any doc about the hardware path of the PCI-X slots, only discs and DVD unit.

Thanks!!!

Re: Integrity rx7640 Hardware path details

Matching the hardware paths to slots on these systems is not easy. I've seen one field engineer who had an internal document that matched the paths to slots and then to EFI paths... but this doc is not published.

One thing you can try, assuming your Vpar already owns the slot you want to work on, is to use olrad to light up the doorbell LED: /usr/bin/olrad -I ATTN [slot_ID] . I *think* it will light up the slot internally as well as behind the server right above the slot, but I don't have one in front of me so I'm not sure.

Hi,

see this link:

http://docs.hp.com/en/AB312-9001C/ch01s01.html#babgfieh

(Table 1-3 and 1-4 will show you the pathes)

You may also run "olrad -q".

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Integrity rx7640 Hardware path details

Torsten,
In that document, talk of IO Chassis 1 and 2. I know in the server are 2 chassis. I don't know which is 1 and which is 2. This are my problem. I must say to the person who goes into the floor "connect the cable in fifth port, counting from the left side".
I never see phisycally this model.

Re: Integrity rx7640 Hardware path details

If viewing from the rear, the left 8 slots are connected to cell 0 (chassis 0), the right are connected to cell 1.

The 5th port from left is 0/0/6/1.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Integrity rx7640 Hardware path details

Starting from left? I must start always from left?
I think I'm approaching to my solution

Re: Integrity rx7640 Hardware path details

From left to right: slot 1 - 8 (chassis 0) - 1 to 8 (chassis 1).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Integrity rx7640 Hardware path details

Yes, but all are in the right "half".

BTW, the chassis and slots are labeled. Ask the person on site to read the labels.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
