Itanium Rx4640 Changing OS from Windows to HP-UX11i

One of our customer is having HP Itanium server with windows platform & now he wanted to change O.S. From Windows to HP-UX 11i.
is it possible ? & if yes then do we have to buy any new kit for changing OS?
Please advice

Hi,

if you have disks attached to a SCSI HBA the HP-UX installation should not be an issue. If you have, however, all disks connected through a SCSI RAID controller, you have to verify whether (and if yes, with which firmware prerequisites) you can boot HP-UX via that RAID controller.

Of course you would have to aquire an HP-UX license and possibly MirrorDisk/UX etc.

Hi,

yes, it is possible with few restriction

1) verify HBA for internal disk drives,
if you have RAID card to support internal drives
2) Windows and HP-UX use different I/O cards (LAN, SCSI, FC), verify these cards
3)you should buy HP-UX license, and some optional software (MirrorDisk/UX, OnlineJFS, ...)
