Itanium rx4640 memory installation procedures
For instance slot 0A and 2B reported failures and I need to know if I just change those two DIMMS out or have to replace the respective DIMM's partner.
Any help is appreciated.

Re: Itanium rx4640 memory installation procedures
The memory is installed in quads (4 dimms, e.g. installed in 0a,0b,0c,0d).
The error message should show you the single dimm which has errors. it's usually enough to replace this one.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Itanium rx4640 memory installation procedures
1) One of the new DIMM's is bad, replace is the obvious answer.
2) The pairs are not going in in the prpper paird slots. Seems from the already posted doc's a bunch of DIMM's might have to go in as a foursome.
In Integrity and PA-RISC servers pairs/quads only work in certain memory slots. You just can't put in four and hope, you have to know where to put the four.
I used to solve that problem by putting the same memory in all available slots. It gave me a headache trying to figure out which memory slots worked in pairs with others.
Still this may just be one bad chip. HP should be willing to ship you a replacement to see. Or whereever you got the memory.
