MP/ILO on HP RX 5670

I have one HP RX 5670. How I can configure ILO/MP on it. I checked for the MP LAN port, but its not there. What could be the way to configure the same for remote management.

"I checked for the MP LAN port, but its not there"

What does this mean? No MP???

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: MP/ILO on HP RX 5670

yeah, MP port is not there on that system. I have a variety of servers which include RX 8640, 8620, 4640 etc, but this server do not have any MP port.

Re: MP/ILO on HP RX 5670

Unlikely!

Look at this picture:

http://docs.hp.com/en/A6837-96001/ch01s01.html#d0e124

Figure 1-3 hp Integrity rx5670 (rear view)

the card in the bottom slot is the MP.

Hope this helps!

Re: MP/ILO on HP RX 5670

Thanks for the information, the port mentioned is there. Only thing is that it is not mantioned as MP LAN port on it, as for the other servers. Could you please guide me for the configuration of it.

Thanks

Re: MP/ILO on HP RX 5670

Cost cutting feature. do not put labels on things :0

Connect with serial cable to MP serial connections (9600,8,1,none )

login:Admin
pass:Admin

>CM
>LC
follow prompts to turn off DHCP, set IP, mask, etc..
>SO (generate SSH keys if applicable),( change default password !! )
>ma
>x

Test it with a LAN connection. You can review the MP/ILO book at the same site mentioned earlier or use HE when in CM mode.

Re: MP/ILO on HP RX 5670

I have attached the LAN cable to the MP port and if I dont want to connect the serial cable ( I dont have the one), how could I configure the same from terminal window of OS.

Re: MP/ILO on HP RX 5670

Unless you can figure out what IP was assigned ( DHCP is configured via default ) you MUST connect a serial cable to the MP to configure it. ( if you are connecting a CAT5 cable directly from a laptop then it MUST be a crossover cable)

Not even sure a crossover is supported.

Re: MP/ILO on HP RX 5670

To configure a static IP address using the ARP Ping utility, follow these steps:

1. Obtain the iLO 2 MP MAC address. To set the IP address using ARP, you must know the MAC address of the iLO 2 MP LAN. You can find the MAC address of the iLO 2 MP LAN on a label on the server.

2. Verify that an active LAN cable on the local subnet is connected to the iLO 2 MP LAN port on the server.

3. Access a PC on the same physical subnet as the server.

4. Open a DOS window on the PC.

5. At the DOS prompt, enter arp -s to assign the IP address to the iLO MAC address.
Syntax:
arp -s
Example from Windows:
arp -s 192.0.2.1 00-00-0c-07-ac-00

6. At the DOS prompt, enter ping followed by the IP address to verify that the iLO 2 MP LAN port is configured with the appropriate IP address. The destination address is the IP address that is mapped to the iLO MAC address. Perform this task from the PC that has the ARP table entry.
Syntax:
ping
Example from Windows:
ping 192.0.2.1

7. Use the IP address to connect to the iLO 2 MP LAN.

8. Use Web or telnet access to connect to the iLO 2 MP from a host on the local subnet and complete the rest of the LAN parameter (gateway, subnet).

Hope it will help for U.....
