Thanks,

LTU = license to use

You are allowed to use your system ;-)

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Hi,
According to
http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/default.aspx?cc=emea_middle_east&lc=en&oid=1837852
on the datasheet to hpux
http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c00545874.pdf
It seem, you could do vpar on pa-risc only, but nothing about integrity virtual machine.

Hello,

HP vpars and HP Integrity Virtual machines are separate products. At 11.23 the MCOE does not contain HPVM and it has to be purchased separately. As for vpars I am not sure, but I think it is the same.

If you order a 11.31 VSE-OE, you can get either HPVM or vpars bundled with the operating system.

Berag, this is a carry over from your "Setting up a new HP RX7640 for the 1st time" post.

It sounds like you need to get your RX7640 to do 2 partitions and you are looking to do it by spending least money possible. From what you have, you cant do it, you will need to buy either some hardware or some partitioning licenses.

The least expensive way out for you is the hardware route / npar. This is the easiest / cheapest route (in my opinion).

Buy
1 x AB313A cell board
1 x AB315A Core I/O
2 x AD013A slim DVD-ROM

Take half of the processors and memory that you already have and install it on the cell board you purchase. Remove the DVD that you have and replace with the 2 slim DVD drives. Install the second Core I/O board that you purchase.

You now have a box that has 2 hard partitions with equal specifications and it would only cost you about 3400.00 (usd)

Re: Meaning of B8485AC HP-UX Integrity MCOE W/Sys 8 Proc LTU

Hi,

I know that for each HP-UX Virtual Partition, I must have some dedicated ressources or I/O allocated such as Network Cards; Processors; Memories etc...

Does the same thing apply to the internal hard disks ?

Does the number of HP-UX Vpars depend on the number of internal hard disks ?

For example, can I have 2 or 4 HP-UX Virtual partitions with only one hard disk in the RX7640?

no, Vpars do not depend on the number of internal hard drives.

Yes, you can have up to 4 HP-UX Virtual partitions with one disk drive. The maximum Vpars on the RP7440 is 8, 4 per each hard partition

Re: Meaning of B8485AC HP-UX Integrity MCOE W/Sys 8 Proc LTU

Each vPar needs an own bootdisk connected to a different LBA (call it controller); maximum of vPars is always 8 per nPar - this means 16 in theory for a rp7440 with 2 nPars.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
