Montvale core's on sx2000

Why am I seeing quid core's on sx2000 Montvale cpu's when using command "info cpu" at efi while all the documentation says it is a dual core.

Re: Montvale core's on sx2000

Let's have a look:

0 0/0/0 4 1.6 GHz 12 MB None 20/01 A1 Active
0 0/0/1 4 1.6 GHz 12 MB None 20/01 A1 Active

(I assume bad formatting here :-( )

Cabinet = 0
Cell Slot = 0
CPU Module = 0...4

but

# of logical CPU = 4 (!)

("quid" = quad?) No.
This means 2 cores in this module each with hyperthreading on. This gives you this number of logical CPU.

Try

# /usr/contrib/bin/machinfo

Example:

# machinfo
CPU info:
2 Intel(R) Itanium 2 9100 series processors (1.67 GHz, 18 MB)
666 MT/s bus, CPU version A1
4 logical processors (2 per socket)
...

Note:
(2 per socket)
and
Itanium 2 9100 series (=Montevale)

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Montvale core's on sx2000

Thanks, so the answer is with multi threading switched on I see 4 cores and with multi threading switched off 2 cores at EFI prompt.

I consider this thread closed now.

Re: Montvale core's on sx2000

Correct.

PROCESSOR MODULE INFORMATION

# of L3 L4 Family/
CPU Logical Cache Cache Model Processor
Module CPUs Speed Size Size (hex.) Rev State
------ ------- -------- ------ ------ ------- --- ------------
0 2 1.6 GHz 9 MB None 20/00 C2 Active
1 2 1.6 GHz 9 MB None 20/00 C2 Active

CPU threads are turned off.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
