Part number for CT3146855LC

Hi,

I need to find the PN for this disk.

I kind find with no problem the 146 gig disk 1000 rpms, but not the 1500 rpms.

this is the 10k AB422-69001, but I cant find the 146 15k.

and another question would a 10k work with another 15k disk?

thnx

Re: Part number for CT3146855LC

Hi,

take a look on HP's partsurfer site, and also try downloading HPs product bulletin as it lists products and is also searchable.

Re: Part number for CT3146855LC

In part surfer looks like the 15k disk is not available anymore :?

AB422-2101A SEE AB422-2101A
Part AB422-2101A is no longer supplied. Please order the replacement, AB422-69001

the replacement the suggest is the 10k disk you mentioned in your post.

Windows?, no thanks

Re: Part number for CT3146855LC

Hi,

how old is the disk, is it still covered by warranty?

you might be able to do a warranty check using the spare number, etc.

Also, I believe that if you mix different speed disks in the same array the faster disk will run slow to try and match the speed of the 10k

Depending upon what enclosure or system you need it for, these are the 15K drives:

A7383A 146GB 15K RPM SCSI Disk Drive

AD206A 146GB 15K RPM SCSI Disk Drive

AD208A 146GB 15K RPM SCSI Disk Drive

AD210A 146GB 15K RPM SCSI Disk Drive

The Seagate ST3146855LC had some firmware issues that were resolved with an HP firmware upgrade.

Re: Part number for CT3146855LC

BTW:

http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=ST3146855LC

Will show you the older U320 146GB 15K drive with the older Universal carrier.

As far as your 10k/15k question it depends on your configuration and how if the drives are mirrored or in a RAID configuration. If they are stand alone disks and you don't care about performance then it will probably be ok. If they are mirrored or in a RAID volume then you don't want to mix speeds.

Re: Part number for CT3146855LC

Then you don't want to mix speeds or drive types. Firmware should be updated on both drives and disk part numbers should match to ensure a stable mirror.

# diskinfo -v /dev/rdsk/diskXX
# ioscan -funC disk

For rx7640, it looks like AD210A should be the one you're looking for:
