Problem running KDE on zx2000 with Itanium 2, OS: Taolinux (RHEL 3)
Recently I have upgraded my HP zx2000 from Redhat AW 2.1 to TaoLinux 1.0 which is a rebuild from RHEL 3 sources.
After installing NVIDIA drivers I cannot run any KDE applications, getting an error saying
"cannot connect to X server :0.0". I have NVidia Quadro 980XGL graphics card.
Does anyone have any idea what could be be possible cause for such error ? I get following errors if I try to start KDE:
startkde: Starting up...
ksplash: cannot connect to X server :0.0
Warning: connect() failed: : No such file or directory
ksmserver: cannot connect to X server :0.0
startkde: Shutting down...
Warning: connect() failed: : No such file or directory
Error: Can't contact kdeinit!
startkde: Running shutdown scripts...
startkde: Done.
It would be great if you guys can help me out.
Thanks in advance,
Parikshit

Dear Zygmunt,
Thanks for your quick reply.
I was trying with new driver, but I didnt knew about the new BIOS.
I downloaded the new EFI Flash BIOS utility, but I am not able to find the lastest BIOS image, which I can load.
It would be great if you can tell me where I can find the Latest BIOS image which I need to install.
Thanks and Regards
Parikshit

Re: Problem running KDE on zx2000 with Itanium 2, OS: Taolinux (RHEL 3)
Hello All,
I upgraded by BIOS to version 4.28.20.30.03 Rev A2 from the
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?locale=en_US〈=English&pnameOID=82076&prodSeriesId=82074&prodTypeId=12454&basePartNum=COL3591&locBasepartNum=wk-12657-1&os=Microsoft+Windows+XP+64-Bit+Edition&tech=BIOS&locale=en_US〈=English&pnameOID=82076&prodSeriesId=82074&prodTypeId=12454&basePartNum=COL3591&locBasepartNum=wk-12657-1&os=Microsoft+Windows+XP+64-Bit+Edition&tech=BIOS&attTypeId=110
page. Is this the BIOS version to which I am supposed install ?
I am still getting the same error, saying
cannot connect to X server :0.0
whenever I try to run any KDE application.
I am using the latest nvidia driver suggested by you.
Does anyone has actually installed RHEL 3 with the latest NVIDIA drivers ?
Thanks and Regards,
Parikshit
