Re: Purchasing memeory for an rx7620
You could do it either way. If you don't want to load it up, get some 4GB module, (2 X 2GB DIMMs, hp part # AB308A.) Remember to put the higher MB DIMMs in the lower slots, (0A/B, 1A/B, etc,) and move the lower size one's down. Just adding them to the cell in the higher positions, (4A/B, etc,) can cause performance issues.
Hope this helps.

Re: Purchasing memeory for an rx7620
If I use all the slots I won't have any slots left :-)
I'd prefer to use the highest spec cards available as long as I'm not compromising performance .

Richard.

These are the HP recommended part numbers for all memory for the rx7620
Hope this helps

Re: Purchasing memeory for an rx7620
Given that the quality of the card itself was the same, would I expect to see better performance from 1 * 16GB or 16 * 1GB. Or would it depend on what sort of App I was running ?
I this case it's basically an Oracle db server.

Solutionthe 8GB module consists of 4x 2GB dimms.
4GB dimms cannot be mixed with other modules.
In general many dimms = best performance

Re: Purchasing memeory for an rx7620
That doc is really useful.
If I got rid of the 8*1GB DIMMs and replaced them with 4*4GB DIMMs do you think I would see much difference in system performance due to using only half the slots that were being used previously ?
