QLE2562-E Showing UNKNOWN in ioscan

Hello,

I have the following Qlogic HBA's installed into my rx2660 system, however they show up as "unknown" in an ioscan:

0/2/0/0/0/0 unknown PCIe SerialBus (10772532)
0/2/0/0/0/1 unknown PCIe SerialBus (10772532)

These HBA's relate to Qlogic QLE2562 part numbers and HP's OEM model AH401A. My guess is that I need the correct drivers installed or even to flash the HBA's, but I cannot seem to find the drivers/firmware to flash these. The links on the download site do not relate or provide the info.

I am looking to see if 1) the above Qlogic HBA is supported in this system and 2) How to flash the HBA's to get them to come online if anyone has any advice.

Thanks!

Re: QLE2562-E Showing UNKNOWN in ioscan

UNKNOWN always means no driver.

If you have non HP branded cards, HP does not support it - you either need hp branded cards or the original driver from the vendor.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: QLE2562-E Showing UNKNOWN in ioscan

Thanks Torsten, So there is no way to flash the standard QLE2562 card with HP firmware to make it recognizable to the system?

I have applied the drivers from this site, but they do not seem to take and still show up as unknown in ioscan. I don't even think Qlogic makes an HPUX driver for this card that I can find:

Hey,

quickspecs:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12698_div/12698_div.HTML

this says "HP-UX 11i v3 only" next to the AH401.

Re: QLE2562-E Showing UNKNOWN in ioscan

Thanks. I do have HPUX 11v3 installed on my system so I am good there. I just can't still seem to flash these Qlogic cards to with any correct HP firmware/drivers that make them show up as online and usable to the system:

uname -a
HP-UX B.11.31 U ia64 0478476315 unlimited-user license

After the link to the driver above was applied, it still shows up as:

0/2/0/0/0/0 unknown PCIe SerialBus (10772532)
0/2/0/0/0/1 unknown PCIe SerialBus (10772532)
0/4/0/0/0/0 unknown PCIe SerialBus (10772532)
0/4/0/0/0/1 unknown PCIe SerialBus (10772532)

Re: QLE2562-E Showing UNKNOWN in ioscan

Hey, when you boot the machine and that finds/displays the right information in the HBA BIOS, then I do not think it's the firmware that's your problem, but more likely the OS or a driver.

Re: QLE2562-E Showing UNKNOWN in ioscan

Since the card is a different model for proliants (AJ764A) and Integrities (AH401A) I think there are more differences than just the name and price.

The HP branded card for Integrities need this driver:

Hope this helps!

Re: QLE2562-E Showing UNKNOWN in ioscan

And finally, if you compare prices, you will find you get 2 cards for proliants or 1 card for integrity for the same price - I'm sure HP don't want you to use the "cheap" cards in this server...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: QLE2562-E Showing UNKNOWN in ioscan

Thanks.

I have loaded that driver already and it still comes up unknown so my only guess is that it is unsupported as a whole. I am pretty stunned there is no way to flash these with the correct firmware if they truly are the same card under different models. I guess that is how the money is made. I didn't order these cards, but just trying to make them work. I will open a case with HP as a last resort before we purchase the HP-branded cards.

Thank you.
