RX1620 Serial A console conection

We just received an rx1620 without the MP card (cost reduction).. I am not having any luck trying to get the console output. What cable/pin-outs should I be using.. I was hoping the console cable from an HP9000 would work.. Does the console work in the "off" state as some of the HP9000's do? I did not want to power up until I had a good console connection.

Dumb Question.. Not powered up... No console display..
The same cable that connects HP9000 console to terminal works just fine..
