RX6600 Itanium & EFI
Dear All,
From the EFI boot Manager, I select the "Boot Configuration Menu" & then select the "Console Configuration"
I found one entry only "P Serial Acpi (HWP0002,PNP0A03,0)/Pci(1|2) Vt100+ 9600" in the list.
Could anyone know why only one entry can be found in "Console Configuration"?
Is it "Serial" means Serial Port?
What is the meaning of the (HWP0002,PNP0A03,0) and Pci (1|2)?
Thanks & Regards,
Raymond

Re: RX6600 Itanium & EFI
Raymond,
From what it is telling you your only option for connecting to the console is via the serial port on the back of the system. Do you have the MP ILO port connected and configured?

Once it's in production it's all bugs after that.

Re: RX6600 Itanium & EFI
The console entry "P Serial Acpi (HWP0002,PNP0A03,0)/Pci(1|2) Vt100+ 9600" is for the MP serial port and it is a Primary console selected.
If you look at the back of the server, there would an Aux serial port ( which is NOT a console port)besides MP serial console port. There won't be a VGA port as it is an optional for HPUX,Linux,OpenVMS. That's why you see only entry in the console configuration menu.
Take a look at the rx6600 quick specification available at http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12596_div/12596_div.HTML
There is a mention which says
System Console Configurations : The HP Integrity rx6600's integrated Management Processor Card provides six methods for console connections.
* SSL secured Web console accessible through the 10/100Base T management LAN
* Standard telnet connections accessible through the 10/100Base T management LAN
* Local VT100 or hpterm terminal, or VT100 or hpterm emulator via local RS 232 serial connection
* Remote VT100 or hpterm terminal, or VT100 or hpterm emulator via external modem
* VGA graphics console using the upgrade to the VGA port. This upgrade is required for Windows systems and optional for HP UX and Linux systems. Keyboard and mouse connections are provided by USB. OpenVMS doesn't support VGA console for boot operations, but supports the VGA device for graphics use after boot.
* Integrated Remote Console (virtual KVM) through the iLO 2 Advanced Pack (Windows systems only).
