RX6600 and Old SCSI devices

If I wanted to externally hookup a SEAGATE ST318406LW or a SEAGATE ST3300007LC with a high density 50 pin narrow SCSI and an Exabyte 8505 8mm tape with a low density 50 pin narrow SCSI plug on the case. to an rx6600 server running VMS, do I need to install a SCSI controller card? And If so, which one? If not, then what cable do I use to hook them to the built-in SCSI interfaces?

Re: RX6600 and Old SCSI devices

Hi John,

don't ask me if this is supported. I would say no ...

>do I need to install a SCSI controller card?
yes. The rx6600 has only SAS cards installed by default.

>And If so, which one?
PCI 2-channel Ultra320 SCSI (A7173A)

Of course it was never tested if it works with this card and your old SCSI devices, but this is the only SCSI card that is supported (beside a network/SCSI multifunction card AB290A). The SCSI card has two VHDCI 68 pin connectors.

best regards
