Here is the interesting part - when it came back up it booted from the drive (the only drive with an os on it) but STILL RETAINED THE OLD SCSI ADDRESS!! How is this possible?
TIA

Re: RX6600 scsi address issue...
If so, in HP-UX 11.31 we now use Agile Addressing, where we address a disk drive as an OBJECT, not as in 11.23 or below where we address the disk as the PATH to the Object
When you move a disk, it is therefore seen as a disk the kernel already knows about, and keeps the same device files.
If this is NOT what you are referring to, could you give examples?

Re: RX6600 scsi address issue...
A disk has NEVER SCSI ID 7.
Anyway, the disks are SAS and this will change everything. SAS disks have SAS ID's.
If you move the disks, the controller will take care of this ID and the (legacy style) device file will remain.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: RX6600 scsi address issue...
To get more information you can use
sasmgr get_info -D /dev/sasd0 -q raid=all
or
sasmgr get_info -D /dev/sasd0 -q phy=all
or
sasmgr get_info -D /dev/sasd0 -q lun=all
Perhaps you need to adjust the device file sasd0 to sasd1 or whatever.
Here is the manual:
http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-3955/index.html
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
