RX8640 RAID

Dear ITRC members.

Does anybody know how to RAID hard disks on RX8640 using HP Smart Array Controler?

Thanks in advance.

Re: RX8640 RAID

You neglect to mention the Smart Array card model, but the following link will list most of them and their users guides.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=101&prodClassId=10007&contentType=SupportManual&docIndexId=64255&prodTypeId=12883&prodSeriesId=5039752

However, this document is probably the best one to reference:

http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02011726/c02011726.pdf

You also neglect to mention if you have HP-UX (assuming HP-UX, even) already running and you wish to add a RAID set to your existing environment or if you do not have HP-UX installed and you wish to create a RAID set to boot from.  Something to note is that most of these SA controllers do support HP-UX boot, but most of them cannot use your internal disks.  Not sure if that affects your plans on or.  Below is a link for the Support Matrix telling you what you can and cannot do with the SA controllers:
