Replace processor to new server
Recently i bought 1 new rx8640 server in order to replace my existing db servers which is running on hp rx7640.
right now I'm planning to take out 4 processors from my old rx7640 and put it on my new rx8640 server in order to boost up some processing speed.
but since this server is in production environment and i have no experience in this issue i need some advice and step by step(like documentation etc) to move out the old processor to new server.
appreciate your feedback.
thank you.
rgds,
fic

Re: Replace processor to new server
I would suggest you to run the below MP command on both boxes and compare the part numbers,
MP:CM>DF ==> Select CPU

Re: Replace processor to new server
I did some more check and confirm that you may use cpu's from rx7640 to rx8640. Both use identical cpu's however if cpu's are Montevale then minimum system firmware is 4.0.
Talking about step by step procedure i would say the service manual of either of the machine would help you.
But i would suggest you to involve a HP onsite engineer to get this done.
