Rx6600's fan speed
We have two rx6600 servers in the testing environment (going to production in very soon) and when Air Condition turns off (for testing), one server goes down immediately while other server still running in the same environment.
I checked the MP logs of the server and found several "COOLING_UNIT_FAILURE"
Entry in the system event logs. But PS output says all fans are in the normal status.
scp1] MP:CM> PS
PS
For System Processor Status see the SS command.
System Power state: On
Temperature : Normal
Power supplies State
-----------------------------------------------------------
Power Supply 0 Normal
Power Supply 1 Normal
Fans State
-----------------------------------------------------------
System Fan 1 Normal
System Fan 2 Normal
System Fan 3 Normal
System Fan 4 Normal
System Fan 5 Normal
System Fan 6 Normal
So is there any actual failure in the fan units?
Other thing that I want to know, is there any method to increase a selected fan's speed manually?
Best Regards
Dhananjaya.

Re: Rx6600's fan speed
It will take little time to take sysrev output because I don't have access to server right now.
Anyway do you have any idea about any way to increase fan speed manually ?
Best Regards
Dhananjaya

Log Entry 47: 04 Jan 2008 03:00:39
Alert Level 5: Critical
Keyword: COOLING_UNIT_FAILURE
Cooling unit failure

If the fan came back to the normal state before you checked PS status, I think you can see the event COOLING_UNIT_OK.
Note that you also can check the diagnostic panel for the internal fan status and/or the fan LEDs for the external fans, #4, 5 and 6.
If you want to troubleshoot your fan failure, you can swap suspect fan with the other fan temporarily.

Re: Rx6600's fan speed
I have attach logs that I collected from server in few days back (SEL and Forward Event Logs and some command out puts). Right now I don't have access to server to get latest logs with text mode.
I take this PS outputs while system up and running.
Best Regards
Dhananjaya.
