SAS HDD Addon on a rx2660

Hi there,

I have a rx2660 server with 2X146 GB of SAS HDD with RAID-1 comes as factory intigrated. I like to add 4X146 GB of HDD. But this server doesn't suppport more then 4 HDD as a pair of RAID as 2X2 HDD and a global Hot Spare with its onboard array controller. Now I create another IM with 2 HDD and make 2 RAID-1 pair with 4 HDD. But I like to add the remaining 2 HDD in the RAID though these two HDD ca be executed normally. Is there any procedure to add the remaining 2 HDD with any of the RAID or I need to add a new array controller card and make another RAID-1?

You can upgrade the internal controller with an SA P400 or use LVM to mirror the "plain" disks.

Hi Kranti,

another contoller will make a Problem in future.
Better u can the RAID-5.
it's very useful.In Raid-5,there are three HDD is going to activate,and one is a spare,if any one down spare will get actvate.

Pls check and revert back.

First of all, can you explain what type of problem will occur if I add another controller card?

Secondly, in rx2660, RAID-5 is not possible as its controller card don't support RAID-5.
Is there any oyher solution??

Can anyone give me the link to download MirroDisk/UX software for rx2660 & a stepwise procedure of how to install the mirror disk and create a new mirror volume???
