I have two rx2600 machines. One of these machines need an externel SCSI terminator to find the third disk (Channel B). To other machine not. Is there any possibility to switch on/off an internal termination?

Juergen

Re: SCSI termination
Nowadays, HP scsi adapters will autoterminate if attached to HP disk enclosures or HP tape drives.
But more info are needed.
Can we know what model of storage is currently attach to the rx2600?

Re: SCSI termination
There is no external device attached. Only internal disks.

Re: SCSI termination
# ioscan -fn
to get the controller device file, for example /dev/mpt3
ext_bus 3 0/1/1/1 mpt CLAIMED INTERFACE SCSI Ultra320
/dev/mpt3
Now run
# mptconfig /dev/mpt3
# mptutil /dev/mpt3
to get more information first.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

SolutionI'm not absolutely sure how to get this setting from the OS.
But on the offline diagnstics CD (and on the service partition if installed) is a tool for configuring the SCSI controller.
The default setting for termination is AUTO, but it could be even ON or OFF.
You may boot from the CD and run "pscsi.efi" to check the settings.
On my system this value cannot be changed for the core I/O (but for other HBAs), but who knows ... it could even be firmware dependend ...
I would check the settings, check for newer firmware (included in servers firmware) and finally consider a bad controller.
I attach a screenshot.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: SCSI termination
I updated the Firmware
System Firmware 2.31
BMC 1.53
Management Processor E.03.30.
Now it works.
Thanks
